Terms of Service

1. The service

SubsRenewal ("the service", "we", "us") is a subscription-tracking application available at subsrenewal.com (the "web app") and as an Android app distributed via Google Play (the "mobile app"). Together they are the "service".

By creating an account or otherwise using the service, you agree to these terms.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the service. If you are using the service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these terms.

3. Your account

  • You are responsible for your password and for activity on your account.
  • You must provide a valid email address.
  • You may not impersonate another person or entity.
  • You may not create an account using automated means.
  • We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the service, except as permitted by applicable law.
  • Use the service to violate any law or third-party right.
  • Upload content that is unlawful, infringing, or malicious.
  • Interfere with the service's security features.
  • Access the service via means other than the documented web and mobile interfaces.
  • Resell or sublicense the service without our written permission.
  • Use the service to build a competing product.

5. Your content

  • You retain ownership of the data you add to the service (subscriptions, preferences, public-list snapshots).
  • You grant us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, store, reproduce, and display that data as needed to operate the service. This license terminates when you delete the data.
  • You are responsible for the accuracy of the data you add. We do not verify the existence or pricing of any subscription you record.
  • Public lists: if you opt in, the snapshot (which excludes exact costs and renewal dates) is published at subsrenewal.com/u/<handle> and is visible to anyone with the URL. You are responsible for the handle you choose and for the data it implies.

6. Reminders and email

  • The service sends transactional email (renewal reminders, weekly digests, monthly summaries, six-month nudges) based on your preferences. We make a reasonable effort to deliver on time, but we do not guarantee delivery or that the data is accurate.
  • The mobile app sends push notifications if you have enabled them.
  • You can disable email and push at any time in the web or mobile app's Settings.
  • We will not send marketing email without your opt-in.

7. AI features (optional)

  • The web and mobile apps can parse subscription text using an AI provider you configure (OpenAI, Anthropic, or Groq). The text you submit is sent to whichever provider you have configured, using your API key.
  • We do not see your AI API key beyond the encrypted storage in Postgres.
  • You are responsible for the API usage and costs charged by your AI provider. We do not charge for AI features.
  • AI output is a suggestion, not a guarantee. Review before saving.

8. Pricing

  • The service is currently free to use. We may introduce paid plans in the future; we will notify you in advance if your account is affected.
  • Existing free features may be limited in the future for free accounts (e.g. a cap on the number of subscriptions). We will notify you before any change takes effect.

9. Service availability

  • We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access.
  • We may perform maintenance that temporarily interrupts the service.
  • We are not liable for losses caused by service interruption, data loss, or delays in email or push delivery.

10. Data and privacy

Our data practices are described in the Privacy Policy.

  • You can export your data as JSON or CSV at any time.
  • You can delete your account and all associated data from the web app's Settings.

11. Intellectual property

  • The service, its design, its code, and its branding are owned by us and our licensors.
  • "SubsRenewal" and the SubsRenewal logo are our trademarks. You may not use them without our written permission.
  • The icons and screenshots on the marketing surface are part of the service and may not be extracted for use outside the service.

12. Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.

13. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or related to the service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim or (b) one hundred US dollars (US$100). We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims arising out of your breach of these terms, your misuse of the service, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

15. Termination

  • You may terminate at any time by deleting your account.
  • We may terminate or suspend your account if you violate these terms.
  • Upon termination, your data is deleted per the Privacy Policy.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The "Last updated" date will reflect the change. For material changes, we will email registered users. Your continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

17. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which our operating company is registered, without regard to conflict-of-law provisions. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.
